All the answers in one place. That's increasingly what we expect. (Thank you, AI). In an ideal world, you’d find your company’s ownership data in one place too.
That's now possible. We've built an MCP server for Vestd, so your AI agent can pull your actual, live data and answer with the real numbers.
If you use AI agents, such as Claude or ChatGPT regularly, keep reading. Once connected, you won't look back.
It’s a way for your AI assistant to talk to another website and its services through that website’s API so you don’t have to.
The simplest way to describe this is Anthropic's own analogy. If we apply it to Vestd:
MCP is like the USB-C of AI: one standard connector instead of a different cable for every app. Vestd provides that port.
Once this clever setup’s in place, you won't want to go back to fumbling with adapters.
With the Vestd MCP, your AI tool of choice can access your company's live Vestd data, e.g. cap table, options, governance, filings, and documents, with the same set of permissions and access controls that you have.
So, when you ask a specific question, you get a specific answer grounded in your actual data rather than a generic one.
The result: faster, more accurate answers, pulled straight from your own live data, without having to dig through the app yourself.
No context-switching, no tab hopping or tool jumping.
Arthur Guy, who leads Product & Engineering at Vestd, on the launch:
For years, integrating tools has meant APIs, webhooks and constant maintenance. The Vestd MCP changes what 'connected' actually means.
Your AI can now query your cap table directly. The same data, the same permissions, just without you having to go and pull it together yourself.
Ownership data isn't something you need to go and find anymore. It's just there when you need it.
The team have worked hard to deliver this, and I'm looking forward to customers trying it out and sharing their experience (if you're reading this, please do!).
Once plugged in, you can request information on:
Cap table & shareholders: look up shareholders, share classes, shareholdings
Shares/options: check option pools, decide on a sensible pool size, review vesting/exercise history for a grant
Governance & approvals: find share/option authorisations, see who needs to approve or pass a resolution
Resolutions: list company resolutions and their signing status
Filings: see what filings (e.g. SH01s, confirmation statements) have been made
Legal documents: find and summarise documents including shareholder agreements.
Directors & employees: produce a list of current/past directors, employee records
Dividends: pull dividend records
For example, you might want to ask:
"Who owns more than 5% of the company, and how has that changed since our last funding round?"
“What filings have we made with Companies House this year?"
“Which shareholders still need to approve the latest share issue?”
“How many options are left in our option pool?”
If you ask for something out of scope, it will simply let you know.
Point your AI assistant at the Vestd MCP connection, sign in, and it can only ever see your data, not anyone else's.
So from a security and compliance perspective, there’s no reason to worry; the connection itself introduces no new risk beyond what you already have logging into Vestd normally. Vestd is ISO 27001 certified, and we take data privacy very seriously (always have).
It doesn't open up access or share passwords. It simply lets you ask for the data you already hold, in plain English, right where you're already chatting with AI, no copying and pasting required.
Currently, Claude and ChatGPT. This is an early release with more connections to follow at a later date.
Any Vestd customer can use the Vestd MCP. You’ll find instructions and FAQs here. Connecting is pretty straightforward, but if you get stuck, reach out.
We don’t jump on the bandwagon without good reason. The Vestd MCP should make our customers’ lives easier, which is what we’ve strived for since the start: making equity management more accessible.
We’re already using the Vestd MCP internally to help companies on our platform get things done fast. We're expanding what the Vestd MCP can do, and adding support for more AI tools as they grow in popularity.
If you're already a Vestd customer, you can connect it today. If you're not, take a look at our pricing plans to get started.
