Meet Vestd’s founder Ifty Nasir

Bradford-born founder and CEO, Ifty Nasir used to be Vice President at BP and CEO at Essar before bowing out to pursue his lifelong passion project, Vestd!

Ifty’s story, in a nutshell

Ifty grew up in bustling Bradford. While his dad was the adventurer (who led the family to the UK), Ifty’s mum was the ‘true entrepreneur’ and her relentless work ethic - running the family corner shop and managing the family - hardwired him for hustle and fairness.

After landing a role as a research scientist at BP, Ifty earned his place in Senior Leadership and was enrolled on Stanford’s Senior Executive Programme. This propelled him into heavyweight posts such as VP at BP, then CEO of Essar Energy.

In 2014, ready for a new challenge, Ifty noticed that many brilliant founders were drowning in spreadsheets just to share equity. So he rolled up his sleeves and built Vestd, the UK’s first FCA-regulated sharetech platform.

Today, Vestd tracks billions in equity and has just teamed up with Trica to launch Vestd India – an exciting new venture that bridges British grit and Indian know-how.

What gets Ifty out of bed in the morning?

“When a customer tells me their entire team paid off their mortgages, or a founder says the team stayed the course because they felt like owners, that’s the real dividend. Plus, we’ve barely scratched the surface internationally. The next decade is going to be electric!”

Ifty believes in… the Ownership Effect

What is the Ownership Effect you might ask? Well, give folk a slice of the pie and they’ll dig in to make the pie bigger basically.

Equity turns employees into co-owners; loyalty goes up, churn goes down and value shoots up for everyone.
