How to Manage Dividends on Vestd
Everything you need to calculate, approve, and track dividends on Vestd
Our Dividends feature makes it simple to calculate, track, and record shareholder dividends. The platform does the heavy lifting for you — from calculating who’s eligible to generating dividend vouchers that can be shared with shareholders.
⚠️ Please note: Dividend payments are managed outside of Vestd — you’ll still need to transfer funds to your shareholders manually.

🚀 Getting Started
On the navigation panel on the left-hand side, click Compliance, then click to Dividends.
To create a new dividend, click the green ‘Create dividend >’ button
📌Note: Any dividends you've previously created will appear in the Dividends history section.
✍️ Creating a Dividend
When you click Create Dividend, you’ll be taken to a form where you can fill in the details:
- Title
Give your dividend a clear name so you can easily find it later, e.g. Q3 2025 Dividend - Description (optional)
Add a short note for context, e.g. Reflects surplus retained earnings available from Q3 2025, in line with our distribution policy. - Share class
Select the share class you’re distributing the dividend to.
- Price per share
Enter the original purchase price per share - Issued date
This is the cut-off date for eligibility. Only shareholders who held shares on this date will be included in the dividend. - Payment date (optional)
Set an expected payment date (this will show on the dividend voucher).
Once everything’s filled in and you’re happy with the details, click ‘Create dividend’ to confirm.
🔍 Reviewing & Editing
At the very top of the page, you’ll see a banner confirming ‘Dividend created successfully’.
Just below, there’s a summary box marked with a small orange ‘Draft’ tag — this means the dividend is still editable. To make changes, click the ‘Edit’ link on the right-hand side of the box.
You can make changes at any point until it’s marked as paid (we’ll cover how to do that later in the guide).
🔍 Tip: You’ll also see who created the dividend in the summary box — handy for tracking activity across multiple admins.
💡 Calculating Dividend Payments
Scroll down to the Dividend Payments section and click ‘Calculate payments’.
Vestd will calculate:
- Who (shareholder) held eligible shares (share class) on the issued date
- How many shares they held
- And how much each person is due to receive
You’ll also see:
- Bank details: These are optional. You’ll see a ✓ or ✗ to indicate whether bank details are on the shareholder’s record. If any are missing, you can click the shareholder’s name to update them via their Shareholder Record page.
(Shareholders can update their own bank details anytime via their My Equity Dashboard. They just need to log in, go to ‘Records you manage’, click their name, then select ‘Edit’ under Bank details. - Status: This refers to the payment status. At this stage, it will appear as Pending (highlighted in orange).
Note: You can delete the dividend record if you want to start again or no longer need it.
Once calculated, you’ll see a banner at the top of the page that says ‘Dividend payments calculated successfully’.
When you scroll down, you’ll see a breakdown of the dividend details for each shareholder in the Dividend Payments table.
🔔 Note: Conditional (unvested) shares are excluded from dividend calculations. Calculations are based on the data held in Vestd, so please review and verify the figures before approving the payments.
Need to pause? Your dividend will stay in Draft and can be picked up anytime from the Dividends History section.
✅ Approving the Dividend
Scroll to the Approved Dividend section. Once you approve a dividend, you won’t be able to change the dividend details.
Double-check all fields — including the payment date (which can still be edited here if needed).
Click ‘Approve dividend’
And in the pop-up, you can confirm if you're happy to approve the dividend — or cancel to go back and make changes.
Once approved, you’ll see:
- A banner at the top of the page that says ‘Dividend payments approved successfully. Vouchers are being generated for download shortly’.
- A green tag in the summary box that shows ‘Approved’
🔒 Note: Shareholders will only be able to view their dividend vouchers after the dividend has been marked as paid.
💷 Marking the Dividend as Paid
🚨 Only mark a dividend as paid once you’ve sent the payment to shareholders outside of Vestd.
When you're ready, scroll to the ‘Mark as paid’ section and click the green ‘Mark as paid’ button.
A pop-up will appear—confirm the payment to complete the process. Click ‘Mark as Paid’ to complete the process or ‘Cancel’. Once you mark the dividend as paid, this can’t be undone.
Once completed, you’ll see:
- A banner at the top of the page that says ‘Dividend marked as paid successfully’.
- A green tag that shows the Paid status in the Dividend Details box
- A green tag in the Dividend Payments table that shows the Paid status
- A button to view dividend vouchers
Dividend vouchers will show up in each shareholder’s My Equity Dashboard.
🔍Tip: Not sure how to get your shareholders signed up? Just follow our step-by-step guide to get them sorted in no time.
📥 Downloading a Spreadsheet
Need a record of the dividend details?
Click ‘Download spreadsheet’ to generate a spreadsheet file with:
- Shareholder name
- Share class
- Share count
- Dividend amount
- Bank details
- Payment status
Once it’s ready, you’ll see a banner at the top of the page that says ‘Dividend payments spreadsheet generated and ready for download’.
