How to manually vest options

Your guide to manually vesting options on Vestd

Need to manually vest options for someone in your scheme? You’re in the right place.

This usually comes up with milestone schemes — where options only vest once a target’s been hit (like a revenue goal, project completion, or probation pass). Because the platform can’t track those milestones, you’ll need to manually vest the options once you’ve confirmed the milestone has been met. Here’s how:

Contents📋

Step 1: Find the option agreement

From your Vestd homepage, use the left-hand menu to go to Share schemes > All option agreements.

Find the agreement where you need to manually vest options (in this example, Penny H’s option) and click the reference name to open the Option Agreement Summary page.

Step 2: Enter how many options to vest

At the top of the page, you’ll see a box labelled Vest. Below it, there’s a field where you can enter the number of options to manually vest. By default, it shows the full number of options granted in the agreement (5,000 for Penny).

Enter the amount you want to vest now — for example, 250 — and click Vest when you’re ready.

Step 3: Confirmation

A green banner will appear at the top of the page stating “Vested”. This confirms the manual vesting was successful.

The number in the Vest box will also decrease (from 5,000 to 4,750 in our example) to show the number of options that remain unvested.

Step 4: Review the summary

If you scroll down to Penny H’s option summary, you’ll see a Vested options field. This shows the number of options you just vested, along with the percentage they represent of the total option grant to date.

Step 5: Recipient view

From Penny’s
My Equity dashboard, she’ll be able to see the 250 newly vested options reflected straight away.

Step 6: Check the agreement status

If you go back to the Option Agreements page and expand the dropdown arrow on Penny H’s agreement row, you’ll see the status now shows “Vested Part.”
